Orthopaedic Sense and Solutions CSOT 2010 Conference

Another stellar CSOT conference has come to a conclusion and, as usual, it was a memorable, valuable and educational experience. A total of 170 registrants attended from across Canada. The conference was held at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel in Toronto between April 30 and May 2. The conference kicked off on Friday evening with registrants having the opportunity to avail themselves of early registration. Through the generosity of the Alberta, Trillium and Wascana Chapters, which donated $2,000, $1,200 and $1,000 respectively, a welcome reception was held, which saw many delegates from out of town and locals mingle and socialize with each other. The exhibit hall was also buzzing with registrants getting an early peek at the newest and latest technologies.

Day one...

By 7 a.m. delegates began to pour in and were quickly ushered through the registration process. Upon registration, delegates were pleasantly surprised to be presented with a sophisticated watch embossed with the CSOT logo among other items found in their bags. Coffee was provided by the Graham Bell Chapter and the Niagara Chapter and pastries courtesy of Anatech Anatomical Technologies. To add to the excitement of the morning, the hotel fire alarm was triggered. No one was quite sure if it was real, a false alarm, or a crude practical joke by the fire chiefs who were also holding a conference in the hotel! Fortunately, the annual general meeting commenced without too much of a delay. CSOT President Patricia Ennis called the meeting to order and the CSOT business matters were carried out. The new board for the current term (2010-2012) was named.
